Conservation Connection at the Zoo 2008

Dear Friend in Conservation...

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 3rd, 2008! (--- MAP of the Zoo grounds ---)

Guests of Conservation Connection at the Zoo:

NOTE: UMBRELLAS are welcome, and encouraged.

When entering the Zoo between 5pm and 6:30pm, you may partake in a behind-the-scenes tour simply by entering the zoo and proceeding under the tunnel on your own, no need for guides, same as if you were visiting the zoo on any other normal day. Simply go as you like to the areas for the Tigers, Lions and Giraffes. The zoo will have volunteers manning the gates outside of each specific area.

When done with your tour, return to the tunnel, go through, and turn left up to the garden tent.

The Westmoreland Conservancy volunteers are planning an exciting region-wide conservation event at the Pittsburgh Zoo. Conservation Connection at the Zoo will provide an opportunity for conservation-minded people (including the public at large) and organizations throughout the greater Pittsburgh region to meet and to share ideas and information.

Conservation Connection at the Zoo is an entertaining event designed for everyone interested in protecting our region's natural lands, rivers and streams, and wildlife. Families, friends, and members of conservation-related groups will join together for fun, good food, information, and conversation. Plans include a picnic-style dinner in the zoo's large Garden Tent, behind-the-scenes zoo tours, guest speakers, conservation-oriented displays from many organizations, and entertaining children's activities.

Conservation Connection at the Zoo will run from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
(Please note, 5:00 pm is 30 minutes earlier than previously stated. This allows more time for the behind the scenes tours of the Zoo. For these tours, we recommend that you arrive at the Zoo by 5:00 pm)

Thanks to the generous donations from various individuals, organizations and businesses, we have kept the ticket prices very low. The ticket prices were set (parking is free) at $15 for each adult, $8 for each child ages 3 to 12, and under age 3 free. Check back for a list of donors and contributers...
